Intercultural Festival, EF Mexico-EF Bournemouth 2014 (I-QUF)

EF International Language School Bournemouth is preparing to say “Hola y Bienvenidos” to the largest group ever to have studied at one of its schools.

Approximately 900 Mexican Students and 90 Mexican Teachers will be coming to Bournemouth for 2 weeks (13th to the 27th of April) to participate in the I-QUF 2014 Inter Cultural Festival.

The students study at the most prestigious private colleges in Mexico, their ages range from 12 to 18.

The Mayor of Bournemouth, Councillor Dr Rod Cooper has been asked to give a Civic Welcome to the students on behalf of the citizens of Bournemouth. This will take place on Monday 14th April at the Pavilion Theatre; the Mexican Ambassador and Embassy officials are also expected to attend the opening day of the I-QUF programme.

Each college has been allocated an adoptive country of the United Nations and will have to represent that country’s position in a simulated United Nations debate which will take place at the Bournemouth International Conference Centre (BIC). The debate is known as EFMUN (EF United Nations Model), the official language of the Debate is of course English.

Apart from the EFMUN Debate and a programme of English classes, the colleges will compete against each other in a spelling competition, a photo rally competition, a cultural and tourism exhibition and a Dance Contest. The latter two will take place on the 19th and 20th of April at the BIC and will be open to the general public and invited guests. The same event in 2013 was attended by hundreds of local people and holiday makers who were massively impressed with the talents demonstrated by the students.

During their time here in the UK they will enjoy educational/cultural visits to London, Oxford, Cambridge, Salisbury, Stonehenge and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

As in previous years, a group of our colleaguesfrom EF Mexico will travel to Bournemouth too and, as usual, will be invaluable in collaborating with the Bournemouth staff to ensure that everything in the programme runs smoothly

All of our visitors from Mexico will be accommodated in 6 Hotels on both the west and east cliff areas of Bournemouth

The I-QUF festival will be rounded off by a 3 day tour to Paris which will include a visit to Disneyland.
