After you have taken your free online English test, if you are below an intermediate level of English (B1), then you must first improve your English skills before we can place you directly into paid employment, where you can then follow the free hospitality training programme.
You will be placed into an accredited English language programme with one of the IEA English language schools listed in the English language school directory. Placements will be made on a rotating basis i.e. you will be placed with the next school in line.

BEET Language Centre
BEET Language Centre is an independent, friendly, family-run school established in 1979!
We’re situated in Charminster, a residential area only a few minutes away from Bournemouth’s town centre, and a 2 minute walk from our local high street which boasts a Post Office, numerous shops, bars, restaurants and even a nightclub!
We offer General English programmes and a range of optional English Plus courses. We also specialise in Cambridge Examination preparation (FCE, CAE & CPE) as well as IELTS Preparation.
Our students are accommodated in either homestay accommodation, student houses (self-catering) or en-suite summer apartments (available July & August). All our accommodation is available within easy walking distance of the school.
The school is equipped with 2 computer centres, 16 classrooms, a library/bookshop, canteen, Wifi, interactive whiteboards in every classroom and a car park. We have a full and varied social programme every weekday evening and also offer teacher-led Saturday excursions.

Southbourne School of English
Southbourne School of English is a family run school that was established in 1966. It is located in a beautiful residential area of Bournemouth where young families and professionals live. It is in a friendly, safe and clean area and is on very good bus routes, and close to a railway station. It is only a short walk from the local high street and 10 minutes to the beautiful beach, which is one of the longest sandy beaches in England.
The school is open all year round for individual adult students and groups from 10 years upwards. We offer first class education in a welcoming and caring environment. We provide a comfortable learning experience for our students as all of our 23 classrooms are fitted with latest interactive whiteboards, air-conditioning and heating systems.
All our 400 families who host our students are within walking distance of the school and have worked with us for many years. Families are police checked and visited regularly by our accommodation officer to make sure they are suitable. We also have a dedicated welfare officer to assist and support students.
As well as being accredited by the British Council, we are a member of English UK and English UK Young Learners. We are also a member of Quality English
We are a GESE Trinity examination centre and can offer GESE examinations for groups at short notice. We are also an Open Centre for Cambridge Business examinations, Cambridge Key Examination (KET) and Cambridge Preliminary Examination (PET).
If your first language is English, or you have at least an intermediate level of English (B1) then immediately after your arrival in Bournemouth, you will receive a free 2 hour and 30 minute orientation course, to learn about working life in the UK. You will then you will be placed directly into paid employment.
However, if your level of English is below an intermediate level (B1), then you will need to improve your English skills first by enrolling on a General English language course with one of the IEA English language schools listed in the English language school directory.
Please note that the English lessons provided will consist of either:‐
- 20 lessons (15 clock hours) per week of General English lessons and you will be asked to pay £230 per week. This fee will include enrolment fee, English test on arrival, books, virtual learning environment (VLE).
- At least 28 lessons (21 clock hours) per week of General English lessons and you will be asked to pay £320 per week. This fee will include enrolment fee, English test on arrival, books, virtual learning environment (VLE).

Notes
- Most of the fundamental learning happens in the 15 hours in the morning between 08.45 and 12.15. Any additional hours are beneficial and will help fluency but do not necessarily make the progression from one level to the next much faster.
- Every learner is of course different and their progress will be helped by self-study, motivation and exposure to the language outside of the class. The student’s own language also plays a part in the speed of progress.
Once you start paid employment, you will then follow a free hospitality training programme which will take place whilst you are at work.
You will work and be trained in different departments in the hospitality sector, for example:-
- Front Office
- Conference and Events
- Housekeeping
- Kitchen
- Food and Beverage
You will also receive training in Generic Skills for the Hospitality and Catering Sector.
A certificate will be awarded to you upon the successful completion of your training in each of the following departments:-
- Front Office
- Conference and Events
- Housekeeping
- Kitchen
- Food and Beverage
You will also receive an additional certificate in Generic Skills for the Hospitality and Catering Sector.
The supervisor / manager for each department will complete a report in English and in your first language, if this is not English. Over the course of your paid employment , you will gain valuable skills and the certificates that you receive can be added to your Hospitality Career Portfolio.
